The Friday Night Project is here (and it’s thanks to you)
We’re really excited to share the launch of our brand new initiative: The Friday Night Project - FREE, bookable rehearsal space for 16–21 year olds.
This is a pilot project, made possible because earlier this year we were successfully shortlisted for the Big Sparks grant - and your votes helped turn the idea into something real. Thank you for backing young people’s creativity in such a practical, tangible way.
What is The Friday Night Project?
The Friday Night Project is simple: a safe, supported space for young people aged 16–21 to rehearse, make noise, try things out, build confidence and community - without cost being a barrier.
Whether you’re already in a band, writing your first songs, producing beats, or just figuring out what you want your music to be, rehearsal space can be the difference between “we’ll do it one day” and “we did it.”
How we’ve shaped the pilot
Before opening this up more widely, we’ve been working behind the scenes to pilot the pilot!
A small group of young musicians helped us define what they actually need - not only in the room, but also through the booking process and the on-site support that helps everyone feel confident and safe using the space.
Now, we’re ready to open bookings to everyone who needs it.
How to book
Bookings are made through our website. The booking is completed by the lead booker, who books on behalf of their group.
All available dates and times are listed in the booking widget. The lead booker will also be asked to agree to the booking terms - we encourage everyone using the studios to read these so they understand their responsibilities when using the space.
You can find everything here:
We want your feedback
Because this is a pilot, we’re genuinely open to learning as we go. If you (or your young person) have any questions, ideas, or feedback once you’ve booked or used the space, we’d love to hear from you.
Email us at hello@thesongschool.co.uk .
Thank you
We’ll say it again: this exists because people showed up, voted, and believed in what young people can do when they’re given the space.
We can’t wait to see what gets made on Friday nights.
