We’re going on the road! Drop The Mic! our regular, free open mic event for young musicians from Southend and the surrounding area; is heading back to Leigh Folk Festival to host the Youth Stage on Saturday 27th June, 2026.
The BIG Busk 2026
The BIG Busk - A summer of street music to raise money for The Song School Fund. From 1st July to 5th September, we're inviting musicians of all ages and abilities to busk in Southend and raise money so more children and young people can access opportunities to learn, make and earn in music.
You don't need to be a Song School student. You just need to want to play.
Estuary Walk 2026
On Saturday 8 August we’ll be embarking on a 10 mile walk to raise money for The Song School Fund ahead of the new academic year - starting in September. Our goal is to raise £2,000 to fund 10 session places on our regular timetable, for a full year, starting in our September intake.

Estuary Walk 2025
The Song School 10 Mile Estuary Walk takes place on Saturday 2 August. We will begin at Leigh-on-sea station, taking the coastal route all the way to East Beach, making several pit stops along the way AND including a walk up and down the pier to make it up to the 10k.
Summer Showcase (Songwriters and Bands)
Our songwriters and bands will be taking to the stage, upstairs at The Royal Hotel, to showcase what they’ve been working on this term.

Our vocalists will be taking to the stage, upstairs at The Royal Hotel, to showcase what they’ve been working on this term. Includes all vocalists aged 10+ from our Vocal Tech and Vocal Artist classes.
This is a closed event for parents/caregivers of young people who attend The Song School.

Bake Sale!
We’re hosting a bake sale at the studios this month, with all proceeds going towards The Song School Fund. There’s some excellent baked goods on offer throughout the day, with thanks to supporters of The Song School who love to bake!
Simply pop in to the studio during drop off/pick up, or just swing by - everyone is welcome!
All proceeds from the bake sale will support our mission as a nonprofit to create communities for music making, accessible for everyone regardless of circumstances. Support enables us to provide more financially supported places on our programmes for children and young people from low-income families.
