Has your child expressed an interest in playing an instrument?
Group Guitar is for children from ages 10+ who want to learn the necessary skills to play guitar.
The class is for improvers and is structured to help your child learn right from the start with the goal of being able to jam along to their favourite song in no time. We can supply instruments for the class on a first come, first served basis. You can also benefit from our instrument loan scheme in partnership with Music-On-Sea.
Class Outline for your child
Learn techniques to establish a consistent rhythm and develop dexterity in your hands – essential skills for playing the guitar
Learn about the instrument, including how to tune it, what all the components are called, and how they all work
Determine whether you prefer acoustic or electric guitar
Learn the notes on the guitar, various chord progressions, and how to read a basic tab
The children do not need to be able to read music to attend this class: everyone will be guided and taught as we go.
You are welcome to apply for financial support to attend this class. To find out more about this scheme, including the criteria for eligibility click here.
