Platinum Jubilee

Hello! We hope everyone had a great bank Holiday weekend, We certainly did. What a way to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

The stage outside Buckingham palace looked amazing! Many big artists and acts turned up to celebrate from the likes the new Eurovision star, Sam Ryder (my favourite bit about Sam Ryder’s performance was he re-imagined his hit song Space Man as Space Ma’am!), Diana Ross, Sir Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Bryan May, Adam Lambert and also Duran Duran joined by Nile Rodgers made an appearance.

However, the one person who really did shine to me was Ipswich drumming sensation Nandi Bushell! The 12-year-old from Ipswich played drums for the DJ Jax Jones.

She described the experience as "amazing", telling her 856,000 Instagram followers "I can’t believe I just performed at Buckingham Palace LIVE on TV to MILLIONS of viewers!"

The Jax Jones performance started off with him playing Synth and midi keyboard, with dancers, Nandi joined him on stage starting with a big drum solo and going back into Jax’s song.

Sunday 5th was the last day of the celebration of the Queens celebrations and there was one big parade going towards Buckingham palace which wowed the crowd and wowed the royals!

Nandi appeared again half way through the parade where she was seen playing drums on the back of the party bus of 2010s whilst facing a large group of dancers following her timing and beats.

She was then joined on stage by lots of other musicians (drummers and trumpet players ) who were playing on snare drums and dancing joining in on her massive drum solo as part of the 2010s TAKE OVER! She started off the solo with 4x4 trap beat followed with a drum Roll the control and timing was spot on! After that following drum rudiments all around the kit with a few cymbal hits!

This really took me back and made me feel really proud to also be a female drummer as I believe they’re isn’t that many of us around as there should be! I started playing drums when I was 5 years old (thanks to my dad being a drummer) my main dream was always to play infant of millions of people! so for me seeing a young 12 year old girl drummer playing in front of many people even at my age is so inspiring! and yes! the imagine below is me when I first started out on my dad’s 70s drum kit aged 5 2001

This was particularly moving to me and just goes to show how inspiring young people can be. Hopefully, this young drummer goes on to inspire more young female drummers just like us!

If you haven’t seen Nandi Bushell she is definitely a must see!
