On a October afternoon during half-term, members of The Song School and those who took part in this years’ Sounds on Sea project, headed down to Chinnerys in Southend for an epic night of live music.

Ahead of the new term, we began kitting out our new space - The Lyric Lounge, with a blackboard wall and a new home for our Uke’s; and we were absolutely thrilled when Aspirations Southend a local charity that exists to encourage the ambitions and achievements of young people; said they would provide us with a brand new digital piano for the space.

Drop the Mic! Is a brand monthly open mic for Young Musicians, Singers, Rappers, Bands and those interested in technical skills such as sound and lighting. Brought to you by The Song School. It’s an opportunity for young people to hone their performance, new writing and new musical performance skills in front of a supportive community of like-minds.
